Sunday Review

Tuesday, September 7th, 2010

Sunday was an eventful day. Midway through the second half of our service Clark nearly choked to death on a piece of candy. It was a big scare, but no harm done and he is fine.

On a better note the attendance of the church seems to be increasing. We are consistently getting the word out via c.d.

The church is small but is becoming more and more mature and independent of me. They are taking more and more ownership and responsibility as we stress the need for self-governmetn, propagation, and sustainment.

A young man named Siyakudumisa is maturing in the faith. He has fantastic grandparents that are some of the most treasured people of Madiba Bay. I know it is their dream that this young man would be used by God to declare His gospel.

Babalo is doing a fantastic job with the new children’s church.

Sipho preached a great message as he continues through the Gospel of John.

The other two Sunday School teachers, Lubabalo, and Nyameka are growing and continuing to be used in the church.

Sometimes it happens so fast…

Many times we pray for things with soo little faith that we think that it will take God at least a couple of months or years to answer our prayers. I definately and unfortunately fall into that category at timesssssssss.

We have been praying for the parents of our young people for a couple of months now but just this past week on Wednesday night we had somewhat of a rekindling of our prayer requests. We began praying more earnestly for these parents and also for a more permanent place to meet… - On Sunday morning Melumzi’s mother came to church and made a profession of faith!!! On Sunday night his dad came to church. He didn’t make any decisions but we praise God for these great victories and answers to prayer. Then God also began moving on behalf of our need for a building. The owner of the place we rent is desperate to sell us the half we meet in and we have already started working out the kinks as of Friday.

I sure am glad this is all on God’s shoulders and not mine. Praise His name!!!

Worshipping in a beautiful auditorium

Monday, September 1st, 2008

Our auditorium looks beautiful. Thank you Missionary Ross Pyle for all your hard work in helping remodel our sanctuary. Our people are thrilled with it. It was actually just over a year ago that we started the church and had given the building a face lift but it definately needed some help.

Once again God is continuing to use our Sunday School as two children made professions of faith on Sunday!!! God is on the move here! Two more people out of God’s creation can join in worshipping Him now!

We stopped our church choir a few months ago due to the fact that it was going nowhere quick. Don’t get me wrong, our people sing beautifully but getting people to practice or getting the people that practiced to church was a real struggle - one that I can’t spend my time fighting. But now it seems that our youth is showing some initiative in starting a choir - it will be led by Lubabalo. I am really looking forward to hearing them sing. They started practicing on Sunday and it seemed like they had already been practicing for months. There is an over abudance of talent in this group.

Continue to pray for us - language, leadership, and vision.

This is Reality in S.A.

What is ministering in South Africa like? One aspect is better than 50 yard line seats at the Georgia Dome to watch the Atlanta Falcons (that relates to my likes most likely not the rest of the 6+ billion people on earth). On the other side it is heartwrentching as you pass by the numerous tents EVERY Saturday where funeral services are being held. I am not talking just one tent but several every Saturday in just the small area that I work in. It is unbelievable!

Today, death struck our own church. A young girl, I believe 25yrs old, by the name Thunyiswa passed away. We are comforted by the fact that she did make a profession of faith and can only hope that it was a genuine call upon the Lord for salvation. I am not sure the cause as for some reason getting a clear diagnosis here seems a little hard to come by but there are several fatal diseases that are prevailing throughout the country.

Lubabalo just got out of the hospital on Tuesday and I thank you for your prayers as this could have very well been him I am writing about, nonetheless it is heartbreaking to see such a young girl pass in a suffering manner. Her brother is a faithful attender at our church and I believe God is going to do something great with his life. I ask you to pray for the other family members of this girl that they would come to know the real Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. Over the next couple of days I will be asked to spend time in prayer with the family in just “another rented tent” so please pray that I would be able to turn the LIGHT on in this dark tent.
