Missed Out!!!

Monday, November 12th, 2007

Sipho preaching at Madiba Bay.

Have you ever felt really bad for someone because he/she missed out on a great opportunity that was put right at the doorstep of their life?  The Sunday evening service at Madiba Bay was one of those opportunities.   I was so impressed with the message given to the people by Sipho Bonga.  It was only his second time preaching, but wow, God really used him!  He preached on Romans 8:28 and preached through the life of Joseph to drive the point home that “all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”  I believe with all my heart it was the message that our people needed and on top of that 3 people made professions of faith.  Sipho was ecstatic after the service because he had poured two weeks of studying into the message and knew that God had used him in a powerful way.  God is faithful to us.  uThixo uthembekile kuthi maKristu!!!

Baptism Sunday

Sunday, November 4th, 2007

Mama kaAsanda - Nomsa SitholeWell, we had a blast today.  I had a good time preaching in the morning and then in the evening I taught on baptism and then we put words into actions as we baptized eight recent converts in our homemade baptistry.

I was expecting a very quiet, solemn baptismal service…not even close.  It was hilarious.  I have never seen people so scared of water in my life.  I thought one older lady (Mama kaLubabalo) was going to shoot up out of the water.

After we finished we had a little snack and fellowship.  The service lasted three hours!!! It was not a normal fellowship.   When we have a fellowship in the states we sit down and talk over some food.  Here, we eat and the singing begins.  It was really good and I believe the people thoroughly enjoyed themselves.  By the way in the morning service three young men made professions of faith!!!
