Sometimes it happens so fast…

Monday, November 10th, 2008

Many times we pray for things with soo little faith that we think that it will take God at least a couple of months or years to answer our prayers. I definately and unfortunately fall into that category at timesssssssss.

We have been praying for the parents of our young people for a couple of months now but just this past week on Wednesday night we had somewhat of a rekindling of our prayer requests. We began praying more earnestly for these parents and also for a more permanent place to meet… - On Sunday morning Melumzi’s mother came to church and made a profession of faith!!! On Sunday night his dad came to church. He didn’t make any decisions but we praise God for these great victories and answers to prayer. Then God also began moving on behalf of our need for a building. The owner of the place we rent is desperate to sell us the half we meet in and we have already started working out the kinks as of Friday.

I sure am glad this is all on God’s shoulders and not mine. Praise His name!!!

Hudson Bryan Hall

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008

He made it into this world at about 11:12am. He is a great looking kid and we are thrilled to bring another life into our home. Clark will get his first introduction in the morning. Thank you for all your prayers. Please keep praying for Corli as she has serious recovering to do. As for me…, well I am going to be doing some serious nappy changing for a while.

Take Care

Scheduling

Monday, November 3rd, 2008

As a missionary scheduling your day is extremely important. If you don’t have a schedule of tasks, and meetings you can really waste alot of time. Well, tommorrow morning first on the “to do” list is have a baby. Yes, at 6am in the morning Corli is due to give birth via c-section to Hudson Bryan Hall.

It is really unbelievable when you think about the fact that we schedule the birth of babies. I mean think about it, you sit down with your doctor and he/she says “Could we do your c-section Tuesday, is that good for you?”, you say, “nay I’m busy on Tuesday could we do it on Thursday at 6pm right after my afternoon workout.”

All jokes aside, please pray for Corli and Hudson as everyone knows a c-section is a serious surgery. We are trusting the Lord for a healthy baby boy and a speedy recovery for Corli.

Thanks,

Kevin

Exodus 2:12
He Smote the Egyptian. (r.v.)
F B Meyer - Our Daily Homily

This was creature-strength, wrought on by creature-passion, and ending in creature-failure. Moses stood on an eminence, and reached down to these poor brethren of his with a passing spasm of pity. He was very careful to look this way and that, go as not to invalidate his own position at court. And fear for himself carried him swiftly from the scene of his people’s woes. It was a brief effort to do the Divine work of redemption in his own energy. Long years must pass, during which God would drain away drop by drop his strength, his resolution, and his very desire to be an emancipator; that when he had become nothing, God through him might effect his almighty will.

We sometimes smite the Egyptian within. — We rise up against some tyrant passion, and strike two or three vigorous blows. Our efforts to rid ourselves of its thrall originate and are prosecuted in our own resolve. At first the conflict seems easily our own; finally the dead weight of all the Egyptians within is more than a match for us.

We often smite the Egyptian without. — We make an assault on some giant evil — drink, gambling, impurity. It seems at first as though we should carry the position by our sudden and impetuous rush. But Egypt conquers in the end, and we flee.

No: we need to learn for the inward and outward conflict the lesson that forty years in Midian taught Moses, that only the Spirit of God in man can overcome the spirit of the world. By disappointment and repeated failure, by the silence of the desert, we are taught that we are nothing — then God becomes our all in all: and all things become possible to us as we believe.

T.E.L.L.

Saturday, November 1st, 2008

We just kicked off our first T.E.L.L. meeting and it was a total success. It is a fellowship of preachers here in Port Elizabeth designed for training up preachers in our churches. We had twenty men in attendance and from beginning to end it was fantastic.

Whether or not these men become pastors we want all the men in our churches to be able to stand and rightly divide the Word of God publicly - so we are trying to give them the tools to do so. We started with a short class on public speaking, followed by a video by pastor Austin Gardner on the philosophy of preaching taken from Nehemiah chapter eight. We then heard a tag-team mesage by three missionaries including myself out of Romans 10:13-17.

At the end we gave out badges/pins for the men to wear on there suits only after they wrote their name on a commitment card pledging to do several tasks to fulfill their responsibilities as being a part of T.E.L.L. Next meeting we look forward to hearing a short eight minute message from a preacher from each of the churches here in Port Elizabeth.
