Ministry News

South Africa, June, 2007

Molweni bazalwana, (Dear brothers and sisters in Christ)

We have had a tremendous month of unmeasureable blessings from the King of Kings. We have had ups and downs but the ups far out weigh the downs. We want to give you an update on all the happenings of the month of June and make sure you are up to date with the plans and goals that are in place here in Port Elizabeth, South Africa.

First of all let us once again thank each and every giver to the ministry here in P.E. Our family and Madiba Bay Baptist Church are continually equipped by the prayers and financial support that each of you direct to us. A special thanks this month to the Business Men Committed to World Evangelism as they gave a special gift to further help us in securing the property and building we are so desiring. God is moving in this situation and we know that we will defeat any and all of the obstacles that stand in the way of us purchasing and using a property for the cause of world evangelism. Just this past week we met with the local community surrounding the property, at the advice of the building inspector. We have gotten permission through the zoning laws of the government to build a church on the property, but the problem lies with the community.

They at first did not want a church on the property. Now, that we have had a chance to talk with the leaders of the community and share our purpose and vision they are more accepting. We still have to meet with the entire neighborhood as soon as the property is transferred into our ownership. I have a few concerns that I earnestly desire you to pray for, one is that the people have the attitude that we are like the government and that they can get, get, and get some more from us. This is the attitude that the young men that were with me in the meeting took from what the leaders of the community were saying. They laid out some threats to us in that if we did buy the property and did not provide great benefits to the community that we would be removed from the property. This is obviously a potential problem. I really do not want to go to combat over a few square meters of property. Please put this on your prayer list because we really want to move forward but sometimes that means taking the path with the most resistance.

On the other hand the church is continuing to move forward. It is a slow move forward but nonetheless we are headed in the right direction. The foundation is being laid, people are getting a vision and a team is being built. Please excuse my style of writing but I am going to write in a list style so I can fit as much in as possible. This past month we had several professions of faith. We have begun basic discipleship lessons with a number of babes in Christ. We are having new visitorts every week. We are having trouble keeping the “back door” closed meaning that they are coming and going. Our greatest struggle right now as far as organization in the church is concerned is our follow-up for the visitors in the chruch. We are going to be working on this this coming week. Please pray that we will get a plan in order that will help us to minister to each individual that visits church after they have gone.

Other challenges being met include Mzi Hompa preaching his first message on giving this past Sunday. People are memorizing verses left and right and there is no end in site. Our new program in the church is really “encouraging the people unto good works.” This is an answer to prayer. In addition to all of this we are continuing to support Cesar Copa a missionary from Peru, South America ministering in Morocco. We ask you to also pray for him as his visa is a big concern for him at the moment. Alongside of this the church is reminded of the Great Commission every week as week pray for a specific missionary and the country that they are ministering in. I tell the people every Sunday that one day, not maybe, but one day and sooner than later WE WILL be sending people out to other cities and countries to preach the gospel to those that have never heard. They are starting to understand and I truly believe God is putting a crazy dream in their hearts of what he can do with someone that will only trust Him!!! Again thanks to every single one of you for your sacrificial giving and priceless prayers. Thank you for another month of having the privilege to carry the LIGHT to people in the dark. Please continue to pray for our language.
